Soccer Expert Chris Sutton Faces Off Against Artist Olly Murs in Premier League Predictions

The Gunners' ten-match victorious streak came to an end by the Black Cats prior to the international hiatus, however can the English top division frontrunners recover against local foes Spurs this weekend?

"{I believe like Arsenal are light years ahead of Tottenham currently but Spurs boss Thomas Frank will have a strategy for this game," stated soccer expert Chris Sutton.

"The Spurs manager will attempt to neutralize Arsenal, who have not always been at their sparkling finest this season - but Mikel Arteta's side usually still manage to win."

Sutton is making predictions for all 380 Premier League fixtures this season, versus AI, fans and a range of guests.

In the twelfth round, he takes on singer Olly Murs, who is a United fan.

Murs' new record, Knees Up, is out on Friday.

Soccer and Parenting Life

Murs is a talented footballer as well as a accomplished singer and has been a featured player of several Soccer Aid matches down the years - but he is not planning a professional comeback as a player.

"{I actually played in a benefit game the other night for a mate of mine," he explained. "My team was trailing 3-1 when I was substituted in the second half, and they went on to win 4-3, so you can interpret that what you want!

"I continue to love football, but I hurt my knee a few years ago and it still hasn't fully recovered. I hope I could play more but the unpredictability of the sport means it's too dangerous for me in my career to do it seriously again.

"Plus I am 41 now, and we are not everyone is Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very happy not playing football and I am gearing up for the moment that my child or boy decides to play instead."

Murs and his wife his partner have a young family, Madison and Albert, and he is ready to follow in his father's footsteps by becoming their manager.

"I won't push football on our kids but I've already told my wife that if they do get the bug for it then I will have to go and get my manager qualifications - and I will likely be coaching their Saturday soccer side," he said.

"I watched my relatives play a lot, and I truly got into it, and I clearly owned a soccer team for a while too.

"My father coached with us when I was a child, which is probably where I inherited it. He managed our side for two or three years and had great fun with it. That could be the next step for me as well, and I am looking forward to it!"

Top Division Predictions

Weekend, 22 November

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

Chelsea might have to wait a bit longer for Cole Palmer's return from fitness issues but their attack is now stronger with Joao Pedro and Delap both returned to fitness.

I still think this game will be quite close, though. The Clarets are disciplined and their sole home losses so far have been against Liverpool and Arsenal.

This smells of a one-all tie to me, but I am in fact going to choose the London side to win narrowly for what would be their third consecutive Premier League win in a row.

The expert's forecast: 1-2

The singer's prediction: The Blues will be superior. 1-3

AI's prediction: 0-2

  • Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT

The Cherries have lost their past two games - albeit both of them were away - but they got thoroughly beaten by Aston Villa last time out which surprised me.

On the other hand, West Ham secured two in a row before the international break and, although both of those fixtures were at their stadium, they do look strong again.

The Hammers' only on the road victory this season came at Forest in August, when their manager Nuno Espirito Santo was still Forest manager.

Therefore, what on earth do I predict here - will it be West Ham extending their streak under their manager, or the home side responding?

I am going to go with Bournemouth, because I believe what happened against Aston Villa was a anomaly.

The pundit's prediction: 2-0

The guest's outlook: Bournemouth are performing strongly but West Ham have picked up under their boss. 2-2

AI's pick: 1-1

  • Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT

Brentford were considered one of the favourites for relegation before the campaign began, but they have surprised a several observers under their manager and are in fine fettle with three wins in their past four matches.

My son told me to select Brentford forward Igor Thiago in my fantasy soccer team a few weeks ago and, guess what, I didn't listen.

Thiago will likely score again on the weekend but I am still not going to pick him or support Brentford at Brighton's ground.

They have not had great success on the road this season, and Brighton are consistently strong at home. Brentford will attempt to hit them on the break but I think Fabian Hurzeler's side carry much more of a danger.

The analyst's prediction: 2-1

Olly's view: This could be one of those games where you expect there is going to be a many goals but it in reality proves to be quite tight. 1-1

AI's prediction: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

It is a huge game for the Cottagers, who have suffered defeat in five of their past six matches.

Fulham have have plenty of talent in their team but it still feels like they could be sucked into a relegation fight.

Regarding the Black Cats, indeed they are the unexpected success of the top flight campaign so far.

The away side's performance in the 2-2 draw with Arsenal last time out was superb. We've not seen any other team rough up the North London side like that this season, and Sunderland were fully competitive for them.

The logical choice to do to support the Black Cats here, because they are clearly able of roughing the hosts up too and, the last time they were in west London, they beat Chelsea at the close of last month.

But I am not do that. Instead, I really need to continue opposing the away team with my predictions. I am claiming a lot of responsibility for their positive outcomes because they evidently enjoy to defy my predictions.

Looking at Fulham's home record, the only team they have lost to is the league leaders. Marco Silva's side will be extremely desperate for a positive outcome, so I am going to predict they will pick up three much-needed points.

Sutton's forecast: 1-0

Olly's choice: I know the visitors are doing well and additionally that the hosts are on a bad run... but they have still been decent at home this season. 2-0

AI's prediction: 2-0

  • Anfield, 15:00 GMT

This is a tough fixture to predict. Liverpool have suffered seven of their last ten matches in all competitions, but could they be one of the sides who profit from the {international break|
