Paceman Gus Atkinson Compounds England's Fitness Worries.

'Significant concern' for the English camp as Atkinson goes off with a hamstring injury.

Gus Atkinson increased the injury concerns plaguing England when he left the ground on the second morning of the Boxing Day Test versus the Australians.

Atkinson pulled up with his left leg post-delivery that he bowled at the MCG.

The England team reported the 27-year-old reported "discomfort" and was to take time off the field in order to be assessed "over the next few hours".

The final Test of the tour beginning on 4 January gets underway at the end of the week.

England have already lost fast bowlers one seamer with a knee problem and another paceman with an abdominal strain during this series.

A replacement bowler was added to the party as cover for Wood.

The seamer had a tough time in the opening two Tests, managing only three wickets.

He was dropped for the Adelaide match, only to be brought back for the Melbourne Test as Archer's replacement.

Atkinson showed better form in Melbourne, taking two wickets with the ball, before adding 28 with the bat as one of just three English batsmen to get into double digits.

Following a brief spell in Australia's second innings, he resumed on Saturday morning and had nightwatchman taken by the wicketkeeper.

However, at the end of his spell, he delivered a slower ball to Travis Head and immediately felt his left hamstring.

The English bowler was brought back for the fourth Ashes Test following his omission of the third.
